Privacy Policy

This is a general privacy policy template for Cortexly and is provided for transparency about how the app handles data. It may be updated as the product evolves; the effective date above reflects the current version.

Cortexly is a spaced-repetition, language-learning flashcard app. It helps you turn what you're learning into memory cards and reviews them on a schedule so you study exactly when you're about to forget. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the third parties that help process it.

Information we collect

Account information — your email address, and (if you use Google Sign-In) your name and profile picture. You can create an account with email & password or with Google.
Your learning content — the decks and cards you create or import, and any text you enter to generate cards.
Study history & progress — your reviews, ratings, streaks, and scheduling state, so the app can space your reviews and show your progress.
Voice recordings (optional) — if you use the pronunciation-practice feature, short voice recordings are captured only to score your pronunciation. They are tied to your practice, not used to identify you, and are never used for advertising.

Third-party services we use to process data

To provide certain features, Cortexly sends the minimum necessary data to trusted service providers:

Anthropic — AI generation of flashcard content from the text or material you provide.
OpenAI — speech-to-text used to score pronunciation. When you use pronunciation practice, your voice recording is sent to this speech service for scoring only; it is not used to identify you.
ElevenLabs — text-to-speech used to generate example-sentence and word audio.

These providers process the data solely to return the requested result (generated cards, a pronunciation score, or synthesized audio). We do not sell your personal data to anyone.

Google Sign-In

If you choose "Sign in with Google," we request only your basic profile and email address. We use them to create or sign you into your Cortexly account. We do not post on your behalf and do not access your Gmail, contacts, files, or any other Google data.

How we use your data

We use the information above only to provide the learning features — creating and generating cards, scheduling reviews, tracking progress, scoring pronunciation, and playing audio. We do not sell your personal data.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your account and learning data while your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting support at unique.brain.center@gmail.com.
